№88 - Czech and Speake

October 17th, 2007 by webmaster

English brand Czech and Speake starts the history only from the end of 70th years of XX century though applies for greater. Frank Sawkins began with a collection of bathroom accessories: amalgamators and bathroom nozzles, bathing shelves and covers for toilet bowls, towel driers, soap trays and mirrors for shaving …
Certainly, everything was made of porcelain, mahogany, a brass and the nickelized metal (it is possible to cover a soap tray with platinum!). But for 25 years Czech and Speake has become a synonym of classical not striking luxury in English style and due to traditional English aromas.
Aroma №88 has received the name in honor of the house on Jermyn Street in London in which Frank lived - and opposite, in the house 39с, the first shop of a brand has been opened. First it was made by the designer and then and the most part of the Englishmen with sufficient incomes have followed him.
The set has only five aromas, but the cult status was received with the Eighty Eighth Number, which has become Czech and Speake’s visit card. It is unusual enough to the Europe XXI centuries and it sounds is a little bit old-fashioned. As an explanation the compounding can serve, according to perfumer John Stephens, kept from times of Queen Elizabeth, but till now sounding interestingly and is modern. Spicy wooden-flower aroma with a smoky-soap shade, №88 stands in the distance from ways of the mass market and million profits. It is a comfortable calming aroma, if to not touch with its quantity.
You will easily understand its tonality if you are familiar with the Arabian perfumery.
№88 Czech and Speake (John Stephen, 1981). Sandal-wood oil, bergamot, rose, geranium and acacia.

Waterproof cosmetics (Part 2)

October 14th, 2007 by webmaster

To make a make-up in the morning and to not worry about clearness of lines and brightness of paints till the evening - is a tempting idea. And it is quite real: for these purpose waterproof cosmetics has been created.
Feel a difference
All waterproof cosmetics can be divided into two types: waterproof and water-resistant cosmetics. The first one has been developed specially for people, who often adjoin to water on a sort of the trade. First of all it is the sportsmen, engaged, for example, in synchronous navigation, and actors - at theatre and at cinema, who, sometimes have to cry in three streams, to walk under the rain without a umbrella and to dive into mountain small rivers. The degree of stability in this case speaks the strengthened compounding; their formula provides formation on a surface of a skin not a thin film, but the real reservation. As the compounding of waterproof cosmetics is developed specially for extreme situations and does not assume daily use, such means have quite aggressive influence on the skin. And it is not recommended to use them constantly even if you have dive or to swim.
For the usual citizen the water-resistant decorative cosmetics more likely approaches, it refers to “proof to atmospheric precipitation”. These means are developed for the active women. the formula of such cosmetics is a little bit easier” waterproof”, however, the influence on the skin is essentially is softer.
Choosing lipstick or tone with a mark “waterproof” (this word also specifies stability), you should be convinced about the sun-protection filter and nutrients. The modern cosmetics necessarily meet these requirements, without from stability degree dependence.

Where and how to keep cosmetics (Part 2)

September 11th, 2007 by webmaster

Some more useful advice
1. Always close densely еру cover in order that the dust, dirt or air (in this case have not got can begin process of oxidation) would not get into the cream or into other cosmetic means.
2. Do not throw out a protective plastic lining which lies under a cover with a cream.
3. The cream from a jar is better to be taken not with hands, but with the special spoon.
4. The creams, packed into plastic jars, have not so long period of storage than those in tubas.
5. Once a week wash out cosmetic spoons for a cream, a brush for a make-up and even brushes for eyelashes so that bacteria would not lodged in them.
Remember!
Working life of perfumery-cosmetic products starts from the date of manufacturing. It should be specified on packing. Manufacturers do it differently:
• sometimes you may find two dates on the packing - manufactures dates and the terminations of validity;
• date of manufacture with a mark, for how long the product may be used is written in months.
Under the European instruction in general it is possible to not specify working life for production with a period of storage of more than 30 months. .
Recently Asian, American and European manufacturers have started to produce compact, modern, stylish refrigerators for cosmetics storage. On the average the device weighs 6 kg. The temperature inside of the unit extends in regular intervals.
Important!
If allergic reaction (reddening, itch, unpleasant sensations) has occurred after the application of cosmetics on the skin, it is necessary to wash skin with warm water and to take any antihistamine medicine.

Where and how to keep cosmetics (Part 1)

September 10th, 2007 by webmaster

Working life depends on the structure
On the average the period of storage of cosmetics makes no more than two years from the date of manufacturing and it may be even less at some means. First of all, it depends on the structure: the cosmetics on a water basis is usually stored no more than for a year as water evaporates in due course, and bacteria can start to multiply in cosmetics.
Presence of alcohol or alcohol components and preservatives considerably extends working life.
It is better to buy cosmetics in small packing in order to have time to use it before it will deteriorate.
Choose a place for lipsticks and creams
The matter is that if on a box with a cream it is written “to store in a dark cool place” it does not mean, that it is necessary to hold it in the fridge (if, certainly, it is not specified on the label, that it is necessary to store means in the fridge as, for example, oxygen cosmetics). Many cosmetic products do not maintain a strong cold.
1. It is not also recommended to store cosmetics in bathroom as raised humidity, frequent change of temperatures and light exposure the same as also direct solar beams, lead to that means spoil ahead of time.
2. It is possible to hold perfumery in the fridge and the following cosmetic means may be kept in the bathroom - soap, a tooth-paste, and shampoos, balms for hair and shower gels.
3. It is desirable to equip a toilet table in the bedroom near to a window and it will be the suitable place for storage of cosmetics - chilly, purely and cool!

Edouardo Marinella - Chiaja

June 21st, 2007 by webmaster

Edouardo Marinella - is quite inexpensive brand, which is very popular in the Roman shops, specializing on selective perfumery. Usually all ruler from six aromas is being represented on a show-window. You will not find name Chiaja in the dictionary - it is a word from the Neapolitan dialect, meaning “beach”. The same name was given to one of quarters in a coastal part of Naples, around of the river running into a gulf.
Aroma starts with white freshness - characteristic for the Italian perfumery citron notes (bergamot and neroli oil) are discolored and painted in color of powder beans, an iris and an almond powder. Orange-yellow citruses can’t be almost smelt.
Most strongly three chords - beans, almonds and musk- dominate; they set the fashion to all composition (the iris only adds in it slightly a moisture, apparently, that it is entered into aroma only as a tribute of the Italian tradition). This sweet three demands though a few freshness, demands a sea breeze or frosty air. Without freshness they sound in rather rough image.
E. Marinella Chiaja: neroli oil, bergamot; Iris, almond powder; beans, musk, cedar, a sweet wood chord.
