Everything you wanted to know about Botox

The history of Botox method is surprising: perhaps, there is no person who would not know about it and at the same time for the majority of people still doesn’t know its main peculiarities. Some people these injections almost as panacea from an old age, at others think that it is one more cosmetic fairy tale. So, this means that it is high time to answer all questions concerning Botox.
History
People have known about the botulinic toxin existence for hundreds years, however only in 1895 the Belgian professor Emil Pierre Van Ermingham identified bacterium Bacillus botulinus, subsequently renamed in Clostridium botulinum. In 1946 the cleared toxin has been received and research experiments with it have been started. Soon, in 50th years of the XX century doctor Vernon Brooks has entered toxin in hyperactive muscle and has noticed, that such injection causes a relaxation of the muscle. This discovering has caused new interest to botulinic toxin. In 1960 ophthalmologist Alan Scott tried to treat squint with the help of Botox. In the end 70 he has organized own company, specializing in Oculinum producing. Soon, the rights to sale of this preparation, and then the firm of the doctor of Scott were got by company Allergan and it has renamed Oculinum in Botox. Today Воtox is used not only in ophthalmology and cosmetology. It is applied for treatment of such diseases as spastic (muscular intensity and muscular spasms), resulted after insult, a children’s cerebral paralysis, hyperhidrosis (abnormal diaphoresis). Recently Allergan has promulgated data of last researches according to which Botox proved as effective measure for preventive treatment of a migraine and at treatment of patients with neurogenic form of hyperactive bladder.
What is Botox?
It is preparation on the basis of toxin of botulism of type A, developed by bacterium Clostridium botulinum.
